The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Lebanese American University School of Pharmacy invites applicants for a part-time faculty position to develop and deliver a graduate course in “PHA758- Biomanufacturing in Pharmaceutical Development of Drugs”. The course covers the role biomanufacturing plays in the development of a biotherapeutic product. The student is introduced to the biologic product’s development from “proof-of-concept”, the history of these large molecules, and a knowledge-based used in developing a scaled process that would be tech-transferred into manufacturing. Key partners in the biomanufacturing process as well as key support teams required to fully develop and manufacture a biologic that can meet all of the critical safety, quality, and regulatory parameters are also discussed. This course also includes a laboratory component that introduces students to various biotechnological techniques used during biomanufacturing processes and quality control of the ensuing biologics, such as nucleic acids and protein extraction, recombinant DNA technique, Western Blot and so on.
Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. from a recognized program/institution, with comprehensive experience in biomanufacturing techniques necessary for the development, control, analysis, and production of biopharmaceutical products.
Priority will be given to candidates with teaching experience at the graduate level in a higher education setting. The successful candidate will assist in delivering the aforementioned course in the graduate MS program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MS program in Pharmaceutical Sciences: Pharmaceutical Development and Management). The Prospective candidates must have a mastery of spoken and written English, with effective communication and interpersonal skills, collegiality, and cooperative abilities.
