Part-Time Faculty Position, History

The School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-Time teaching position in the Department of Liberal Studies to deliver courses in History to be offered to undergraduate students from the various schools. The courses have been designed to allow students to
- Identify and interrogate primary sources of historical moments in the history of Lebanon, the Middle East, and the world.
- Identify and understand key historical moments in the history of the Middle East, Arab history, and the history of Lebanon.
- Understand Lebanese history as part of larger global and regional processes, particularly as it relates to the historical trajectory of neighboring countries, colonial and postcolonial histories around the world, and global events.
- Develop critical thinking and enhance historical writing skills
Applicants must possess the following essential qualifications:
- A Master’s or Doctoral degree in History or a related field with an emphasis preferably on Middle East/Lebanese History
- Good theoretical knowledge of the field of History and its development in the last few decades, with an emphasis on the place of field in relation to the Humanities and to Liberal Studies
- A minimum of two years of undergraduate teaching experience
- Evidence of using innovative teaching methods with non-specialized audiences
- A deep understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN.
- Good written and oral English communication.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience using Blackboard
- Experience delivering Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
