Part-Time Faculty Position, Microbiological Basis of Disease

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Lebanese American University School of Pharmacy invites applicants for a part-time faculty position to develop and deliver an undergraduate course in “PHA211- Microbiological Basis of Disease”. The course covers the general characteristics of microorganisms and how to handle them in the laboratory, as well as the specific characteristics of pathogenic bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Topics covered include the different aspects of medical microbiology, identification and control of pathogens, disease transmission, host resistance, immunity and control of infection.

Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. from a recognized program/institution, with comprehensive experience in microbiology necessary for the understanding of pathogenicity traits, ensuing symptoms and clinical manifestations, and how to diagnose infectious diseases.

Priority will be given to candidates with teaching experience at the undergraduate level in a higher education setting. The successful candidate will assist in delivering the aforementioned course in the undergraduate pre-pharmacy program. The Prospective candidates must have a mastery of spoken and written English, with effective communication and interpersonal skills, collegiality, and cooperative abilities.
