Part-Time Faculty Position, Wellbeing

The School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-Time teaching position in the Department of Liberal Studies to deliver a course on Wellbeing to be offered to undergraduate students from the various schools. The course has been designed to allow students to
- Define public health, and its unique contributions to the wellbeing of the public
- List the major determinants of health and reflect on health inequalities in various socio-political contexts including instability
- Identify potential psychological and socio-economic stressors and their impact on the wellbeing of individuals and their families
- Reflect on protective factors promoting wellbeing such as social support, spirituality and resilience
- Describe coping mechanisms enhancing wellbeing and mental health following stressful events
Applicants must possess the following essential qualifications:
- A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field with an emphasis on Wellbeing
- Good theoretical knowledge of the determinants of wellbeing and associated risk-factors as well as protective factors.
- Knowledge and/or experience of the physical, mental, social and economic impact of wellbeing at the individual and community levels.
- A minimum of two years of undergraduate teaching experience
- Evidence of using innovative teaching methods with non-specialized audiences
- A deep understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN.
- Good written and oral English communication.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience using Blackboard
- Experience delivering Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
