Postdoctoral Opportunity in Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Title: Postdoctoral Opportunity in Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Project Area: Energy Storage Systems, Advanced Estimation Algorithms, Online Observers
- Application Deadline: November 26, 2025
- Description: We are pleased to announce a postdoctoral opportunity within the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at LAU. The project focuses on advancing electrical energy storage systems, with a particular emphasis on sodium-ion and LMFP batteries. These technologies offer significant potential for economic viability, improved performance, and environmental sustainability, but their broader application is limited by the lack of standardized characterization protocols and real-world validation.
- Project Objectives:
- Advance electrical circuit models for sodium-ion and LMFP batteries based on time-domain characterizations.
- Integrate these models into algorithms for accurate State of Charge (SoC) estimation, using advanced techniques such as the Kalman filter. This approach enhances the reliability and accuracy of SOC estimates by fusing model predictions with real-time measurements, ultimately optimizing battery performance and lifespan in applications ranging from electric vehicles to renewable energy storage systems.
- Qualifications: The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Experience with energy storage technologies, SOC estimation, or Kalman filtering is highly desirable. Candidates should be capable of analyzing data, conducting simulations and publishing research findings.
- Application: To apply, please submit a CV, cover letter outlining your research experience and interests, and contact details for two references to Nagham.elghossein@lau.edu.lb
The position is initially for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal.
