Postdoctoral Position in Materials Science

A full-time postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Department of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering at the Lebanese American University, Byblos. The position is expected to last two years. However, the renewal for the second year is contingent upon satisfactory performance during the first year.

The research project aims to study theoretically and computationally the electromechanical couplings in two-dimensional materials.

The position involves collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams, contributing to high-impact journal and conference publications, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, and participating in research proposal development.

Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong background in:

• Condensed matter and materials physics
• Mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics
• Advanced computational and numerical methods

Preferred background in:

• Plane-wave density functional theory and density functional perturbation theory
• Cluster computing
• Continuum mechanics

A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conferences is preferred.
