Athletics Manager - Beirut
The Athletics Office is currently looking for an Athletics Manager reporting to the Director of Athletics. This position is based on Beirut campus.
Role Summary
The Athletics Manager is mainly responsible for handling the planning and execution of comprehensive athletics programs on the Beirut campus. This role includes directing coaching staff, hosting and managing tournaments, and supervising facility operations to promote student, faculty, and staff engagement.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Designs, coordinates, and executes the athletics program on the Beirut campus
- Provides direct oversight and support to varsity teams, ensuring high-quality coaching, regular training, and participation in local and international competitions that reflect the university’s commitment to athletic excellence
- Directs and develops coaching staff to execute university-wide athletics initiatives
- Assists the Director in managing LAU’s international tournament participation
- Hosts and manages LAU International tournaments in Lebanon
- Coordinates visa applications and travel arrangements in collaboration with the university’s travel office
- Manages, maintains, and enhances all athletic facilities on campus, while actively promoting their use among university students, faculty, and staff to foster well-being and campus community; coordinates with external venue providers as necessary
- Coordinates with the Byblos Athletics Manager and the Sports Recreation & Events Coordinator to implement university-wide programs. Represents the university at the Lebanese Federation for University Sports (FSUL), as requested
- Manages athletics procurement in coordination with the concerned LAU departments
- Provides coaching and technical guidance to athletic teams, fostering skill development and competitive excellence
- Oversees the scheduling and coordination of athletic practices and facility rentals
- Sets clear goals, expectations, and priorities for the coaches and staff including the lifeguard(s), when applicable. Monitors performance regularly
- Reports periodically to the Director on the status and progress of work
- Fosters a collaborative and inclusive team culture that prioritizes success
- Develops and manages the office budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively
- Acts as backup for office staff as needed
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Physical Education, Sports Management/ Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 6 years of experience in sports or a related field, out of which 2 are in a supervisory role and 2 years of experience in athletics programs
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint…)
- Experience in social media is preferable
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively across diverse teams
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service
- Ability to engage the LAU community and the public in a variety of activities and engagements
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with possible/occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends/holidays to support events and activities, training sessions and attending games. International travel is also expected to support participation in competitions.
