Civil & Finishing Team Leader - Beirut
The Facilities Management Department / Physical Plant is currently looking for a Civil & Finishing Team Leader reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This position is based on the Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Civil & Finishing Team Leader is mainly responsible for leading a team of civil & finishing technicians in charge of maintaining and repairing items and conducting finishing work by providing technical support in timely and effective interventions, ensuring end-user satisfaction.
Additionally, the team leader will ensure proper execution of all needed preventive maintenance of university assets (doors, paint, door hardware…) and supervision of outsourced works and repairs.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises and performs painting work for the interior and exterior of structures, buildings and other surfaces
- Supervises, performs, coordinates and follows-up on the needed maintenance works, such as furniture and chairs, welding, carpentry fixes, and other maintenance activities
- Oversees and performs needed waterproofing works
- Provides guidance, supports, coordinates and supervises all activities and events installation
- Supervises and performs scaffolding installation and other construction structures whenever needed
- Inspects, conducts repair and replacement if necessary for all aluminum works like doors, sliding windows, frameless glass doors, glass conditions and curtain walls
- Monitors and manages inventory of tools, materials, and supplies required for finishing works, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely replenishment
- Enforces safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment for team members and campus community
- Provides on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to enhance staff skills and efficiency
- Provides operational guidance to the team by setting clear goals, expectations, and priorities; tracks progress and maintains a service-oriented, high-performance environment
- Compiles, and presents data reports as required
- Ensures the proper maintenance and safekeeping of personally handled documents and files
- Reports periodically on the status and progress of work to the direct supervisor
- Acts as backup support for office staff as needed to ensure continuity of operations
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Technical Baccalaureate (BT3) degree with relevant specialization
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience in finishing work, maintenance, or repair services, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
- Good MS Office skills
- Detail oriented with a focus on operational efficiency
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
- A pleasant, dynamic and patient character
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Work Conditions
Physical demands: Physically fit to perform the above duties. Ability to lift and carry objects, and to work in various conditions
Work Schedule: The regular working days are Monday through Saturday. This position may require flexible scheduling, including night shifts, Sundays, and holidays. Adaptability is essential, as shifts are assigned on a rotational basis and may include weekends and holidays.
