Consulting Manager
The Global Affairs Service Center (GASC) is currently looking for a Consulting Manager reporting to the Director of GASC. This is a central position that is primarily based on the Byblos campus and requires occasional presence on the Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Consulting Manager is mainly responsible for driving the growth and operational excellence of GASC’s consulting portfolio within LAU. S/he owns the full lifecycle of consulting activities - from opportunity identification and proposal development to engagement delivery and close-out - while fostering partnerships with faculty, institutional units, and external clients across public and private sectors.
The manager supervises the roles of Consulting Sales Representative(s).
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Identifies consulting opportunities aligned with university expertise and market demand
- Works with faculty and staff to develop, package, and refine consulting offerings and services
- Leads client outreach activities related to GASC consulting opportunities, informed by market research and internal analysis
- Oversees and guides Consulting Sales Representatives by aligning outreach efforts with GASC consulting offerings, faculty expertise, and approved opportunities
- Analyzes and identifies tenders and RFPs, identifies contributors, coordinates internal and external collaborators, and manages submission logistics (including procurement portals and deadlines)
- Leads and coordinates proposal development for identified opportunities, including technical narratives, workplans, budgets, and required documentation
- Maintains and curates a repository of reusable proposal assets, templates, and reference materials
- Manages consulting engagements from contract signature through close-out and invoicing
- Translates contracts and ToRs into implementation plans, timelines, and budgets
- Coordinates delivery teams and monitors progress, quality, risks, dependencies, and resource utilization across engagements
- Ensures compliance with client, donor, and university policies throughout engagement implementation
- Tracks contractual obligations, deliverables, and reporting requirements
- Coordinates institutional reporting and maintains audit-ready documentation
- Tracks engagement budgets in coordination with Finance and flags variances or corrective actions as needed
- Serves as the operational point of contact for clients and partners during engagement execution
- Coordinates with Legal, Finance, HR, Procurement, and Marketing as required
- Implements and maintains standardized tools, templates, trackers, filing systems, and dashboards to support consulting activities
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus
- Minimum of 6 years of experience, out of which 4 are in consulting, project management, or grants-related roles, and 2 years in a supervisory role
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively, manage priorities independently, and escalate risks or issues appropriately to supervisor
- Demonstrated experience in proposal development and consulting engagement delivery
- Experience working with faculty or subject-matter experts in academic or institutional environments is preferred
- Strong organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities and engagements simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management or reporting tools
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with possible/ occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends/holidays to ensure business continuity.
