Custodial Services Coordinator - Beirut
The Hospitality Services Office / Housekeeping Team is currently looking for a Custodial Services Coordinator reporting to the Custodial Services Supervisor. This position is based on the Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Custodial Services Coordinator is mainly responsible for coordinating the daily activities of custodial staff to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of university facilities. S/he assists the Custodial Services Supervisor with assigning schedules and works, monitoring performance and service quality as well as providing operational support for campus events, and ensuring housekeeping services are delivered efficiently in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates the daily work assignments of custodians to ensure efficient coverage of all designated facilities and areas
- Assists in scheduling and allocating custodial staff to routine and special assignments based on operational requirements and priorities
- Coordinates and supports facility set-ups, breakdowns, and logistical requirements for campus events, activities, and special functions
- Coordinates laundry services for residence halls/dormitories, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery
- Handles custodial supplies inventory, distributes and maintains adequate inventories of custodial supplies, equipment, and materials required for daily operations
- Monitors the condition and proper use of custodial equipment and reports maintenance or replacement needs as necessary
- Inspects facilities, identifies and reports issues to the supervisor, and implements corrective actions
- Assists in training new custodial employees in cleaning procedures, safety practices, equipment operation, and service expectations
- Monitors staff performance, inspects facilities regularly to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with established housekeeping standards and reports performance concerns, operational issues, or staffing needs to the Custodial Services Supervisor
- Coordinates special cleaning projects, deep-cleaning activities, and emergency cleaning requests
- Maintains control and accountability of facility keys, custodial storage areas, and housekeeping assets
- Ensures compliance with health, safety, environmental, and university regulations and procedures
- Maintains accurate records related to staff assignments, supply usage, inspections, and operational activities
- Prepares basic reports and maintains accurate operational documentation
- Performs other duties pertaining to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Baccalaureate II Diploma or its equivalent Technical Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar capacity OR Brevet with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar capacity
- Knowledge of custodial procedures, cleaning methods, equipment, and safety standards
- Strong people skills with a collaborative approach
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
- Detail oriented with a focus on operational efficiency
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service
- Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate multiple activities, and work effectively in a fast-paced university environment
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration with colleagues and other university departments
- Demonstrated high level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry objects, bend, stoop, occasionally climb ladders, and operate cleaning equipment. Walking and standing regularly is expected throughout the shift.
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 600 am till 2:30 pm and Saturday from 6:00 am till 11:00 am. Alternate schedules may apply if needed. Attendance might be requested occasionally on weekends or holidays to support meetings or events.
