Engineering Computer Center Supervisor - Byblos
The School of Engineering is currently looking for an Engineering Computer Center Supervisor reporting to the Engineering Computer Center Manager. This position is based on Byblos campus.Role Summary
The Engineering Computer Center Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of all computer labs within the School of Engineering (SOE). This role ensures that labs are fully functional, resources are properly allocated, and users receive high-quality support and services.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of all computer labs as needed
- Ensures all lab equipment, including PCs and printers are functioning correctly
- Provides technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff using the computer labs
- Troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software issues
- Installs and configures lab software and systems
- Monitors and manages lab resources to ensure they are used efficiently
- Maintains an inventory of computer lab equipment and supplies
- Performs regular maintenance, updates and backups on computer lab equipment
- Ensures that all safety and security protocols are followed in the computer labs
- Reports any major issues or needs for repairs to the Engineering Computer Center Manager
- Provides guidance and training to users on proper lab procedures and equipment usage
- Develops and updates user manuals and guides as needed
- Works closely with other computer lab supervisors and support teams to ensure cohesive operations across all labs
- Participates in team meetings and contributes to discussions on computer lab management and improvement
- Supports the implementation of new policies and procedures as directed by the Engineering Computer Center Manager
- Maintains the computer labs as a safe study space by intervening/reporting harassments and/or safety hazards of any kind according to established protocols
- Acts as backup for other computer center supervisors on both the Byblos and Beirut campuses
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
- Strong technical skills with knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network systems
- Experience in Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Management, ESET Management
- Experience in Level 1/2/3 IT Support
- Entry level knowledge in Data Centers and Server Rack Installation/Management
- Ability to manage and monitor student employment for maintenance tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic
- Sound analytical thinking and critical judgment
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work within a diversified team and foster a spirit of cooperation and integrity
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM except when the Computer Centers are being used on weekends or holidays, with possible/ occasional attendance after hours to ensure adequate coverage during exam periods and/or to perform upgrades and maintenance and/or to provide backup during staff absences within the unit on both campuses.
