Engineering Lab Coordinator
The School of Engineering / Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is currently looking for an Engineering Lab Coordinator reporting to the Chair of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. This is a central role that is primarily based on the Byblos campus, with occasional commuting to the Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Engineering Lab Coordinator provides hands-on technical support for the day-to-day operations of the engineering laboratories. This includes setting up and assisting with lab experiments, maintaining and calibrating equipment, troubleshooting instruments, ensuring safety and cleanliness, and supporting faculty and students with technical needs. The coordinator ensures that laboratory operations run smoothly and efficiently by maintaining equipment, supplies, and a safe working environment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains, tests, and calibrates lab equipment and instruments
- Applies hands-on skills in soldering, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electronic devices and circuits
- Supports lab instructors in delivering lab sessions
- Provides technical support to faculty and students during lab sessions, projects, and research activities
- Maintains a clean, organized, and hazard‑free laboratory environment
- Tracks loaned equipment and ensures proper return and storage
- Maintains lab equipment, instruments, and tools
- Oversees in-house maintenance of equipment
- Assists the lab supervisor in planning the upgrade and replacement of equipment
- Ensures adequate supplies for the uninterrupted operation of labs
- Responds to and reports safety incidents, hazards, or misconduct according to established protocols
- Supports the School of Engineering summer camp and other student orientation and outreach activities
- Stays up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the role
- Provides backup support across other engineering labs when needed to ensure continuity
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- TS degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a similar setting or similar technical roles
- Experience with soldering, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electronic devices and circuits
- Ability to maintain, repair, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments
- Effective computer skills
- Effective verbal and written English skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective organizational skills
- Ability to work proactively in a team environment
Work Schedule
This position follows a standard work schedule (Monday to Friday), with possible/occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends to ensure business continuity or to support events.
