Executive Director, Finance Information Systems
The Finance Information Systems Office is looking for an Executive Director, Finance Information Systems, reporting to the Vice President for Finance - CFO.
This is a central role that that requires presence on both campuses with regular commuting to LAU Medical Centers and affiliated entities.Role Summary
The Executive Director, Finance Information Systems provides strategic leadership for the University’s finance technology ecosystem across LAU, the LAU Medical Centers, and affiliated entities. S/he is responsible for developing and executing the Finance Information Systems strategy, optimizing enterprise financial applications, strengthening data governance, advancing reporting and analytics, and driving digital transformation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, financial controls, and decision-making.
Working in close partnership with the AVP Finance Operations, AVP for Finance Corporate Affairs, AVP for Budget & Financial Planning, Grants & Contracts and the Health Services CFO, the Executive Director ensures finance technology investments support institutional priorities while maintaining compliance, security, and ensuring best practices.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains the multi-year Finance Information Systems strategy and technology roadmap
- Aligns finance technology initiatives with institutional priorities and the University’s digital transformation strategy
- Prioritizes and oversees the Finance technology portfolio to maximize business value
- Leads the governance, optimization, and continuous improvement of enterprise financial systems
- Maximizes ERP functionality and standardization across LAU and the LAU Medical Centers
- Identifies system enhancement opportunities and oversees implementation of improvement initiatives. Leads the development of enterprise financial reporting and business intelligence capabilities
- Ensures timely delivery of operational, management, regulatory, and Board reports
- Expands self-service analytics and dashboard capabilities for finance leadership
- Establishes enterprise standards for financial data governance, master data management, chart of accounts integrity, and data architecture
- Ensures consistency and accuracy of financial data across all systems
- Chairs the Finance Data Governance Committee
- Leads automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual processing
- Eliminates high-risk spreadsheet-dependent processes through workflow automation, integrations, and robotic process automation (RPA)
- Promotes continuous process improvement across Finance
- Develops multi-year Finance technology investment plans and business cases
- Monitors project delivery, budgets, benefits realization, and technology lifecycle planning
- Serves as Finance’s primary liaison with Information Technology Department
- Leads and develops the Finance Information Systems function
- Builds technical capability, succession plans, and career development pathways
- Fosters a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Ensures Finance systems comply with internal controls, audit requirements, security standards, and regulatory obligations
- Oversees finance-related IT controls, segregation of duties, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
- Coordinates remediation of audit findings
- Promotes standardized finance processes and reporting across LAU, LAUMCs, and affiliated entities
- Balances institutional consistency with entity-specific operational and regulatory requirements
- Supports enterprise-wide financial integration initiatives
- Provides operational guidance to the team by setting clear goals, expectations, and priorities; tracks progress and maintains a service-oriented, high-performance environment
- Fosters a collaborative, cooperative, and respectful team culture that prioritizes accountability, continuous improvement, and staff success
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA, MIS, Data Analytics, or related discipline) preferred
- Relevant professional or ERP certifications (Oracle, SAP, Banner, Hyperion, or equivalent) are desirable
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in Finance, Accounting, Finance Systems, or Digital Finance transformation, out of which 7 years are in a senior management or director-level leadership role
- Proven experience leading enterprise ERP implementation, optimization, or transformation programs
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, or other complex multi-entity organizations is highly desirable
- Demonstrated success leading technical, systems, or analytics teams
- Experience working in or with regulated environments (financial reporting standards, healthcare regulations, higher-education compliance, data protection)
- Enterprise ERP platforms (Banner, Oracle, SAP, Workday, or equivalent)
- Business Intelligence and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Oracle EPM/Hyperion, Workday Adaptive Planning)
- Data management, SQL, data warehousing, system integrations, and master data governance
- Automation technologies including RPA and workflow solutions
- Financial reporting standards, internal controls, and governance frameworks
- Strong strategic leadership skills with the ability to drive organizational growth, make sound business decisions, and achieve measurable results
- Proven ability to lead change and digital transformation initiatives while developing, coaching, and motivating high-performing teams
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills, with a strong commitment to governance, integrity, accountability, and organizational success
Work Schedule
This role follows a standard Monday–Friday work schedule. However, due to the nature of managerial responsibilities, flexibility is required. The position may occasionally require availability after regular working hours, on weekends, or on holidays to support operational needs, ensure business continuity, and meet critical deadlines.
