Finance Project Management Officer
The Finance Strategy Execution & Transformation Unit is looking for a Finance Project Management Officer.
This is a central role that is primarily based on the Beirut campus with occasional commuting to the Byblos campus and LAUMCs.Role Summary
The Finance Project Management Officer is mainly responsible for supporting the supervisor in the day-to-day project management, analytical, reporting, and coordination work of the unit. The unit serves LAU together with its affiliated entities — LAUMC–Rizk Hospital, LAUMC–Saint John’s Hospital, and other affiliates. The Officer assists in running the portfolio of finance transformation projects across this multi-entity environment.
The role provides Project Management Office (PMO) support — tracking projects, milestones, risks, issues, and dependencies, preparing status reports, and helping coordinate stakeholders and deliverables across entities.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Helps maintain the Finance transformation project portfolio register across LAU and its affiliated entities (LAUMC–Rizk Hospital, LAUMC–Saint John’s Hospital, and other affiliates), including project status, owners, milestones, and dependencies
- Supports in tracking project progress, deliverables, and timelines across the Unit’s portfolio, flagging slippages, delays, and escalation items for the supervisor’s attention
- Assists in maintaining project plans, Gantt charts, milestone trackers, and RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) for each transformation initiative
- Prepares regular project status reports, steering committee packs, and dashboard updates
- Assists in liaising with project owners, sponsors, and contributors at LAU, LAUMC, and other affiliates to gather inputs, track deliverables, coordinate follow-ups, collect baseline data, measure progress against target outcomes, and prepare reports
- Helps maintain documentation of lessons learned, post-implementation reviews, and project closure records for completed initiatives
- Assists in preparing finance narratives, reports, charts, tables, and executive presentations for the VPF–CFO office, leadership reviews, Board of Trustees materials, and committee meetings
- Supports the development, refresh, and ongoing maintenance of executive dashboards, performance reports, and data visualizations used to track Finance transformation initiatives and strategic priorities
- Carries out data gathering, cleaning, reconciliation, and analysis required to support the preparation of strategy, transformation, and PMO materials, applying AI and automation tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot, Power BI Copilot) as appropriate to accelerate data preparation and get insights
- Supports the coordination of Finance committees, task forces, and steering groups across LAU and the affiliates by drafting agendas, minutes, and follow-up notes, and tracking action items to closure
- Assists in updating the Finance website content and digital communication tools, ensuring information remains current and consistent across LAU and the affiliates
- Supports the preparation of internal communication materials issued through the Finance Communication Center, including content directed at students, faculty, and staff and at external stakeholders
- Helps document Finance processes, procedures, and standard templates, and maintain organized records of the unit’s work
- Supports cross-functional process improvement activities by preparing analyses, comparison tables, and supporting materials requested
- Carries out ad hoc analyses, schedules, and special reports, as assigned
- Handles the filing and organization of work materials
- Stays up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the role
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, project coordination, PMO support, analysis, or a related support role
- Familiarity with project management concepts and PMO disciplines (status tracking, milestone management, RAID logs, steering reports) is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including data analysis, charts, tables, and presentation design
- Experience with project management and dashboarding tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau) and summarizing data accurately
- Good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and entities
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, or multi-entity service-oriented institutions is a plus
Work Schedule
This role follows a standard Monday–Friday work schedule. The position may occasionally require availability after regular working hours, on weekends, or on holidays to support operational needs, ensure business continuity, and meet critical deadlines.
