Financial Reporting & Audit Compliance Manager
The Finance Corporate Affairs Department is looking for a Financial Reporting & Audit Compliance Manager, reporting to the Comptroller, Accounting & Financial Reporting.
This is a central role that is primarily based on the Byblos campus with regular commuting to Beirut campus, LAUMCs, and/or affiliated entities.Role Summary
The Financial Reporting & Audit Compliance Manager leads the preparation, review, and delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting for LAU, its hospitals, and subsidiaries. The role ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, audit obligations, and internal control frameworks. The position also serves as a key liaison with external auditors and internal stakeholders, while driving continuous improvement in reporting processes, controls, systems, and documentation.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including consolidation and reporting activities
- Prepares and validates financial statements, notes, disclosures, and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable US GAAP and/or IFRS requirements
- Coordinates external audit engagements and acts as a point of contact for auditors
- Coordinates audit planning, information requests, audit schedules, and management responses
- Follows up on audit findings and ensures timely implementation of corrective actions
- Maintains, assesses, and enhances the internal control framework, including control testing, remediation, and documentation
- Identifies control gaps, reporting risks, and process inefficiencies, and recommends practical improvements
- Coordinates with tax, treasury, legal, operations, and business units to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Monitors changes in accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidance, and oversees the implementation of related updates
- Sets clear goals, expectations, and priorities for the team. Monitors individual and team performance regularly fostering a high-performance, collaborative team culture
- Provides on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to enhance staff skills, efficiency, and professional growth
- Leads initiatives to improve reporting processes, strengthen controls, automate workflows, and enhance financial data quality
- Supports special projects, system enhancements, and cross-functional finance initiatives as required
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- Minimum 6 years of accounting/financial reporting and audit experience, including 2+ years supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS; internal control experience preferred
- Experience managing external audits and internal control programs
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP and consolidation systems (e.g. Oracle)
- Experience with data analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Strong ability to lead audit processes end-to-end, coordinate with regulators, auditors, and senior leadership
- Ability to analyze financial statements and identify risks
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, problem-solving mindset, especially in compliance issues
Work Schedule
This role follows a standard Monday–Friday work schedule. However, due to the nature of managerial responsibilities, flexibility is required. The position may occasionally require availability after regular working hours, on weekends, or on holidays to support operational needs, ensure business continuity, and meet critical deadlines.
