The University Libraries - Access Services, Learning, & Research Support Division is currently looking for an Instruction & Outreach Manager reporting to the Director of Access Services, Learning, & Research Support. This is a central position located mainly at Byblos campus with regular presence at Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Instruction & Outreach Manager is mainly responsible for developing, implementing and assessing the library’s instructional and outreach programs. S/he will promote information literacy to enhance the library’s educational impact and increase the visibility and utilization of library collection and services.
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with possible/occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends and/or holidays when and if needed to support information literacy sessions with learners in masters and professional programs.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides direction and management for the reference and information literacy services and outreach initiatives of the LAU Libraries
- Works with the librarians in the Instruction & Outreach Unit to appropriately assign the tasks of compiling and updating course packs, developing and maintaining research guides, developing information literacy modules, and designing and facilitating workshops on online information products and research techniques
- Delivers workshops and information literacy modules and provides one-on-one research and bibliographic consultations when needed
- Analyzes data to assess the effectiveness of programs and identifies areas for improvement
- Plans the library orientation events in coordination with the Access Services Managers to engage the university community
- Partners with LAU faculty, researchers, and students to provide curricular and research needs while enhancing the students’ information literacy skills
- Collaborates with faculty to integrate information literacy modules into the curriculum
- Works collaboratively with the Access Services Managers to manage the information literacy sessions that are offered to the IB School subscribers and other information literacy workshops offered to the broader community and organizations
- Develops and implements outreach strategies to promote library services and resources to students, faculty and staff
- Prepares reports and presentations as needed
- Performs other duties pertaining to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library & Information Science from an institution following ALA standards of practice
- Minimum 8 years of work experience, out of which, at least 5 years are in academic library instruction with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering information literacy instruction
- Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse patrons
