IT Support Administrator
The Information Technology Department / IT Support Office is currently looking for an IT Support Administrator, reporting to the IT Support Manager.Role Summary
The IT Support Administrator is primarily responsible for providing technical support for the University’s IT systems ensuring reliable operation of hardware, software, and peripheral devices, ensuring timely resolution of user issues and efficient delivery of IT services. S/he supports faculty, staff and students by troubleshooting technical issues, installing and maintaining equipment, providing user assistance and training, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to support the University’s technology environment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots users’ problems associated with any desktop or laptop application or hardware including printers, scanners, and other peripherals
- Installs and/or upgrades desktop hardware and software
- Updates ticket call progress in the Helpdesk system daily. Responds to Helpdesk inquiries and provides training and technical assistance
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of all the equipment and systems by keeping current with all technology trends and by closely working with all IT Department offices
- Provides follow up and progress updates to the end users
- Provide guidance and on the job training to student assistants, ensuring that they are familiar with various functions, duties, documentation and personnel
- Processes all IT Support maintenance requests with external companies as well as internal processing with end users and concerned offices
- Acts as backup support for the IT Helpdesk as first line of technical support and for IT Support Office staff as needed to ensure continuity of operations
- Reports periodically on the status and progress of work to the direct supervisor
- Stays up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the role
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in IT support
- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
- Effective verbal and written English skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Detail oriented with a focus on operational efficiency
- Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively across diverse teams
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service
- Ability to engage the LAU community and the public in a variety of activities and engagements
- Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
Work Schedule
Winter Schedule (10:00 AM until 6:30 PM) / Summer Schedule (10:00 AM until 5:00 PM) with possible/occasional attendance after hours, on weekends, or on holidays to ensure business continuity and support University activities.
