Maintenance Manager - Beirut
The Physical Plant Office / Maintenance Unit is currently looking for a Maintenance Manager reporting to the Director of Operations & Maintenance. This position is based on Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Maintenance Manager is mainly responsible for managing the day-to-day maintenance operations of the campus facilities.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises the maintenance of building utilities and related facilities, equipment, and distribution systems in HVAC, electrical, civil & finishing, mechanical, and gardening trades
- Develops daily management procedures, provides technical guidance and support for the maintenance teams, and provides enhancement of maintenance systems and procedures related to preventive maintenance programs and requests
- Implements preventive maintenance programs for existing and newly acquired facilities, systems, and equipment
- Supports the maintenance teams in providing needed solutions, information, and troubleshooting, and provides training, when needed
- Oversees the maintenance of grounds, structures, and furnishings (lawns, plantings, tree care, irrigation, parking facilities, roads, walkways, etc.)
- Develops, operates, and applies building automation and energy management systems and controls
- Provides technical support and supervision on the implementation of maintenance contracts and outsourced maintenance tasks
- Schedules attendance teams to ensure a 24/7 coverage of the university facilities. Assigns tasks and assesses the workload of technicians by allocating shifts and duties accordingly
- Oversees support teams assigned to university events
- Provides technical feedback regarding the acquisition of assets
- Prepares condition assessment for facilities and assets
- Performs other duties pertinent to the job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of work experience in a similar capacity, out of which 4 are in a supervisory role in a structured institutional environment
- In-depth knowledge and experience in the maintenance and support of complex electrical systems and power plants, mechanical systems, plumbing systems, life and fire safety systems, HVAC systems and building management systems
- Previous experience in implementation and management of Enterprise Asset Management software systems is a plus
- Strong leadership and management skills, with a proven ability to lead diverse teams
- Friendly character and agreeable personality
- Interpersonal communication skills with work colleagues and end-users
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Organized and professional record-keeping and archiving skills
- Customer Service oriented
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with possible/occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends or holidays in case of emergencies or to ensure continuity of operations.
