Mechanical Technician - Byblos
The Facilities Management Department / Physical Plant is currently looking for a Mechanical Technician reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader. This position is based on the Byblos Campus.Role Summary
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and installing mechanical and plumbing systems, including all needed preventive maintenance. S/he is also responsible for supervising outsourced mechanical and plumbing works and repairing university equipment and assets.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Installs, operates and maintains mechanical systems including but not limited to: water supply, filtration and treatment, pumps, boilers, hot water tanks, sanitary fixtures, water distribution and pressurization pumps, water treatment, water dispensers, drainage, sewage, medical gases, rainwater and sewage networks, wastewater treatment plants, water filtration, irrigation, water fountain, firefighting, and other systems, as assigned
- Installs mechanical systems and performs plumbing works
- Performs preventive maintenance for mechanical systems, doors, hardware, curtains, etc.
- Repairs assets with mechanical defects (including lab and cafeteria equipment)
- Establishes and maintains job-related files, reports, training material, and support contracts
- Handles all job-related correspondence (reports, memos, emails) and communication pertinent to the assigned tasks
- Maintains constant presence in accompanying and attending to outsourced mechanical and plumbing work conducted on campus
- Fills out reports and reviews completed maintenance and service reports
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Technical Baccalaureate (BT3) degree, in a relevant field (Mechanical)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service
- Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet search; ability to operate BMS software
- Willingness and capacity to learn the operation of equipment and systems through reading manuals (in English)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, especially in verbal and written English and Arabic
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
- A pleasant, dynamic, and patient character
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Work Conditions
Physical demands: Physically fit to perform the above duties. Ability to lift and carry objects, and to work in various conditions
Work Schedule: The regular working days are Monday through Saturday. This position may require flexible scheduling, including night shifts, Sundays, and holidays. Adaptability is essential, as shifts are assigned on a rotational basis and may include weekends and holidays.
