Medical Research Coordinator
The School of Medicine / Medical Research Office is currently looking for a Medical Research Coordinator reporting to the Assistant Dean for Research. This position is based in the Medical School facility in Achrafieh, with occasional commuting to the Byblos Campus and the LAU Medical Centers.Role Summary
The Medical Research Coordinator is mainly responsible for facilitating and coordinating medical research activities within the medical school. S/he will be supporting various aspects of research projects, including administrative tasks, regulatory compliance and research data collection.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in the planning and execution of medical research projects including budget monitoring
- Receives, processes and follows up on all faculty’s requests for research activities
- Follows up with residents and medical students on research projects and publications
- Handles all PIRF related matters including budget monitoring, assisting in submitting proposals and in the RA & post-docs recruitment process, etc.
- Supports with clinical trials including feasibility study, Institutional Review Board (IRB), registration, patient visits and payments, and assists in obtaining IRB approvals ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance
- Coordinates School of Medicine’s research with the office of Graduate Studies and Research (GSR)
- Monitors data collection, entry, and storage, ensuring data integrity and security
- Handles the school’s post-doctoral research fellow application process, onboarding, and orientation; assists with their research, salaries, schedules, presentations at events, etc., and in the volunteer postdoctoral research fellows and graduate internships
- Assists in planning and organizing research-related events, such as seminars, conferences and workshops. Coordinates logistics, including research courses logistics, venue booking, catering and technology support
- Prepares and delivers research orientation sessions to Med I & Med II and Med III and/or other activities as requested
- Tracks journals on impact factors for ranking purposes
- Coordinates the research processes between LAU and the LAU Medical Centers
- Identifies research opportunities for students abroad and handles applications
- Stays updated with medical research trends and methodologies. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and implements changes as needed
- Updates research policies as requested
- Prepares quarterly reports on research and maintains accurate and organized research records and documentation
- Serves as coordinator/secretary of the School of Medicine research committee and other committees
- Processes the school’s research survey handled by the Institutional Research & Analytics Department
- Assists in maintaining the school’s research office page
- Sits on committees and acts as secretary as requested
- Helps with maintaining and tracking office budget
- Handles the filing and organization of work materials
- Prepares and reports on data as requested
- Acts as backup support for office staff as needed to ensure continuity of operations
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, statistics, population health, public health, or any related field
- Minimum 2 years of professional work experience in research coordination or a similar role in healthcare or an academic setting
- Knowledge of research ethics and regulatory compliance (IRB)
- Strong communication skills in English and Arabic
- Dedication to maintaining patient confidentiality and research integrity
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other applications
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with commitment to deadlines
Work Schedule
This position follows a standard work schedule (Monday to Friday), with possible/occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends/holidays to ensure business continuity. During the reduced summer hours, staff may be asked to attend on a rotational basis from 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM, depending on operational needs.
