The Office of International Services is currently looking for a TL Leadership Coordinator. This position is for a limited duration and requires physical presence on campus during LAU operating hours.Role Summary
The TL Leadership Coordinator designs projects, activities and programs to fulfill the focus of the MEPI-funded Tomorrow’s Leaders (TL) programs on leadership, civic engagement, and participatory governance. He/She closely coordinates with various stakeholders including internal ones such as the Dean of Students (DOS), the Outreach and Civic Engagement Office (OCE) and the Arab Institute for Women (AiW), and external ones such as AUB, AUC, NGOs to integrate TL students into their programs while reporting to the TL Executive Director.
In addition to LAU offering of extra-curricular development, TL needs additional focus on gender issues, participatory governance, and exposure to the local/international community for increased opportunities for growth and development. Therefore, student engagement opportunities related to debate, policymaking, and civil society involvement need to be developed for that purpose.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to increase TL students’ involvement in their extra-curricular activities
- Documents TL students’ involvement in LAU student life
- Plans and prepares the main TL events and activities including leadership and soft skills training and workshops
- Serves on relevant committees to synchronize and coordinate approach between LAU/AUB/AUC on workshops
- Plans workshops that will enhance students practical soft-skills as well as others in the co-curricular (e.g. grant-writing, gender, conflict, citizenship, etc.)
- Harnesses networks in US – MEPI, State Department, others to set up talks via Skype for co-curricular activities
- Convenes networking events and leadership roundtables with successful role models to expand the network of TLers
- Proposed debates around items of national or regional importance with policy component that can translate to better research or ideas
- Documents and reports students’ success stories and highlights during the program in coordination with the TL communication officer
- Attends relevant events/activities designed for leadership development for monitoring and follow up
- Assesses, evaluates, and reports on TL-related activities and events in coordination with TL M&E expert
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, education or related field
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in leadership development, preferably within an educational context
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English and Arabic
- Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel
- Excellent writing skills and ability to generate reports
- Resourcefulness, resilience, and openness to diverse views
- Passionate about working with international students
- Must possess the nature and qualities to work with youths
