The Outreach and Civic Engagement Office is looking for a USP VII Program Assistant Director under the USAID University Scholarship Program (USP) reporting to the Program Director. This position requires presence on both campuses (Beirut and Byblos) and is for a limited duration.
Role Summary
The USP VII Program Assistant Director provides support to the Program Director to ensure that the terms of the USP grant are upheld.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Works closely with Grant Management Team in implementing, coordinating and monitoring the progression of the Grant in compliance with its rules and regulations
- Serves as the USP Scholars’ guide to ensure their success in the program
- Acts as a liaison between USP students and LAU Faculty/Staff
- Explains USP Grant terms and LAU policies and procedures
- Ensures USP scholars compliance with the program requirements and follows-up on scholars’ progression to guarantee continued evolvement towards completion of the degree requirements in a timely manner
- Generates and reports data in compliance with USP procedures and Grant agreements and improves data processing and reporting
- Coordinates with LAU Faculty Advisors regarding any changes that might occur in Scholars’ academic plans
- Discusses any Scholars’ academic and/or personal difficulties with Program Director
- Maintains Scholars’ academic records and consistently updates the data accordingly
- Coordinates with the Registrar’s office to stay informed of important or general announcements that need to be relayed to Scholars
- Develops, prepares, and applies an effective and efficient system to produce accurate and timely reports
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree
- Minimum 5 years of grants-related experience
- Fluent in Arabic and English both written and spoken
- Ability to think strategically, and creatively to solve problems
- Ability to exercise good judgment in different situations
- Capacity to take initiative and make difficult decisions when necessary
- Proven ability to work in a dynamic team and build strong working relationships
- Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills
- Excellent people skills
- Excellent communicator and writer who can articulate information to problematic students
