Service Technician - Byblos
The Physical Plant Office / Operations and Maintenance is currently looking for a Service Technician reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This position is based on Byblos Campus.Role Summary
The Service Technician is primarily responsible for supporting the maintenance unit with various maintenance and repairs tasks for university facilities and equipment, as well as overseeing university vehicles repair, transporting items requiring repair to external vendors and purchasing needed items from the market.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance on university facilities and equipment such as systems, doors hardware, curtains, etc.
- Repairs mechanical, electrical and other equipment / systems in buildings and facilities such as welding works (gates, fences, benches, lab and cafeteria equipment …)
- Attends to outsourced maintenance works conducted on campus
- Purchases needed maintenance supplies from the local market. Assists in obtaining quotes and securing best prices; ensures purchases are made in line with university procurement policies
- Drives the office vehicle to transport maintenance supplies and equipment
- Transports items that require external repair to service shops/vendors, follows-up and ensures timely delivery and pick-up of items. Tracks and documents all items sent out for repair.
- Oversees the maintenance and repair of university-owned vehicles. Schedules regular maintenance and ensure vehicles are kept in good working condition
- Supports in the organization and operation of the Physical Plant storage facilities
- Performs key cutting
- Maintains accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities
- Prepares and submits reports on maintenance activities, inventory levels, and vehicle status
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned, such as, but not limited to overnight shifts, holidays, and weekend duties
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Technical Baccalaureate (BT3) degree or equivalent, with relevant specialization (Electrical, Mechanical or other relevant specialization)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
- A valid public driver’s license
- Ability to lift and carry objects, and to work in various conditions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Customer Service Oriented
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Work ethics, patience, self-control and endurance
- Physically fit to perform above duties
Work Conditions
Physical demands: Ability to lift and carry objects, and to work in various conditions.
Work schedule: The regular schedule is Monday to Saturday. This role is subject to adaptive shifts including nights shifts, Sundays and holidays.
