Sports Recreation & Events Coordinator
The Athletics Office is currently looking for a Sports Recreation & Events Coordinator reporting to the Director of Athletics. This is a central position that requires presence on both Beirut and Byblos campuses.Role Summary
The Sports Recreation & Events Coordinator is mainly responsible for implementing diverse recreational programs and coordinating athletic events that promote campus-wide engagement and wellness. This role supports a vibrant campus life by involving students, faculty, and staff in recreational activities, intramural sports, and community outreach.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Implements recreational programs promoting campus-wide engagement and wellness through diverse activities involving students, faculty, and staff
- Administers the student intramural and intercampus tournaments
- Handles the youth sports and camp outreach programs
- Handles all media and social media coverage for games, events, and live streams
- Handles digital content, and collaborates with photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and other content creators as needed
- Maintains a digital archive of all athletics department content
- Assists the Director of Athletics and the concerned departments in organizing Alumni events and fund-raising activities pertaining to Athletics
- Coordinates the Jr. NBA boys and girls league in Lebanon as well as the NBA camps across Lebanon, while coordinating with NBA staff to ensure program alignment and success
- Manages Jr. NBA international teams and training initiatives
- Coordinates the selection of participating clubs and schools for the Jr NBA league
- Assists the Director of Athletics and the Student Recruitment Office in the organization of school visits and implements athletics-related exposure programs
- Suggests, identifies and develops new programs to enhance LAU’s reputation and strengthen community ties
- Supports the Director of Athletics in fundraising, scholarship development, sponsorship acquisition, and partnership agreements as needed
- Prepares and reports on data as requested
- Reports periodically to the Director on the status and progress of work
- Ensures the proper maintenance and safekeeping of personally handled documents and files
- Stays up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
- Acts as backup support for office staff as needed
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree, in Physical Education, Sports Management, or any related field
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar capacity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic
- Strong MS Office skills and social media platforms skills
- Strong people skills with a collaborative approach
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
- Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively across diverse teams
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service
- Ability to engage the LAU community and the public in a variety of activities and engagements
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with possible/occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends/holidays to support events and activities, training sessions and attending games. International travel may be needed to support participation in competitions.
