Student Retention Officer - Byblos
The Office of the Dean of Students is currently looking for a Student Retention Officer reporting to the Director of Student Services. This position is based on Byblos Campus.Role Summary
The Student Retention Officer is mainly responsible for implementing retention plans aimed at reducing student turnover and fostering a positive and supportive environment that contributes to students’ academic success and personal development. S/he plays a main role in enhancing student engagement and satisfaction leading to improved overall retention rates.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Proactively engages with individual students, particularly incoming students to understand their challenges and concerns to develop effective personalized support plans
- Provides students with timely and effective interventions aimed at enhancing their engagement and satisfaction particularly students with low engagement and at high risk of non-continuation
- Assists the Director of Student Services in developing comprehensive retention plans using data insights, industry best practices and a deep understanding of student needs. Supports the assessment of the implemented plans and adjusts as required
- Collaborates with the academic advisors, career advisors, university counselors, athletics department, student life office, health clinics, financial aid and scholarships office, among others, to provide a holistic approach to student success and to identify and tackle issues that may ultimately lead to low turnover
- Coordinates with faculty advisors to ensure that students at risk of low engagement or non-continuation receive personalized and targeted interventions
- Coordinates with the Office of the AVP Enrollment Management to generate reports that would help identify areas that need improvement and to maintain low attrition rates
- Actively participates in the orientation days and other important students’ academic and career activities
- Reports regularly about students at risk of low engagement or non-continuation
- Administers the student retention platform “Starfish” while actively contributing to informative workshops/presentation sessions on its usage for students, faculty, and staff
- Assists and actively participates in DOS Office events
- Maintains full documentation of individual cases and plans and ensures confidentiality
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in a related field such as social sciences, analytics, statistics
- Minimum 3 years of experience in student support, student services, counseling or a related role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Strong MS Office skills
- Ability to analyze data, and identify trends and practices related to student retention
- Knowledge of statistics software
- Ability to write reports (qualitative and quantitative)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit high ethics
