Systems Manager, ITAS
The IT Applications & Solutions Office is currently looking for a Systems Manager, ITAS reporting to the Director of IT Applications & Solutions. This is a central position that requires presence on both Beirut and Byblos campuses.Role Summary
The Systems Manager, ITAS is mainly responsible for designing strategies and providing a high level of system availability, reliability and security for servers and databases. S/he also designs and implements strategies for the adoption of cloud infrastructure and the management of disaster recovery solutions, ensuring the IT environment remains aligned with emerging technologies and security standards.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluates and implements cloud infrastructure solutions to meet organizational objectives
- Manages hybrid infrastructure (on-premise + cloud), including data migration and cloud integration
- Manages daily operations of system and database administrators and monitors project plans and timelines
- Collaborates with IT departments to define and ensure standards for servers and database performance, availability and security are being met
- Designs and maintains a disaster recovery site in accordance with the executive management
- Coordinates with IT departments regarding new requirements, performance and growth needs
- Develops, documents and communicates plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities
- Researches and evaluates new technology trends and quality standards, then recommends new solutions and implements training as required
- Compiles and distributes status reports and other information as needed
- Follow-ups on Contracts & Agreements
- Participates in the Business Process Reengineering initiatives of the University and provides and facilitates technology solutions to these initiatives
- Participates in investigation tasks
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
- Reports periodically to the direct supervisor on the status and progress of work
- Ensures the proper maintenance and safekeeping of personally handled documents and files
- Stays up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the role
- Provides backup support when needed to ensure continuity of operations
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- BE in Computer Engineering or a relevant specialization
- Minimum 8 years of experience, out of which 5 are in functional relevance
- Industry Specific Certificates (Solaris, Oracle, Vmware or other)
- Experience with technological tools, systems and databases
- Experience with IT processes, functions and practices
- Ability to be on-call 24/7 to resolve emergencies
- Excellent analytical and facilitation skills
- Effective communication skills
- Organizational skills with attention to details and follow-through
- Maintain confidentiality of work-related information
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multitask
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with possible/ occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends/holidays for system maintenance or emergency tasks.
