Theater Supervisor - Beirut
The School of Arts & Sciences / English & Creative Arts Department is currently looking for a Theater Supervisor reporting to the department Chair. This position is based on the Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Theater Supervisor is responsible for handling the daily operations and technical support of the theater ensuring smooth execution of performances and events. S/he will be handling all logistics related to theatrical productions, including both production and technical operations.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees the daily operations of the theater ensuring efficiency and organization
- Handles schedules for performances, rehearsals, workshops and other theater activities
- Serves as primary point of contact for faculty, students and external parties using the theater
- Handles contracts with artists, vendors, and service providers ensuring proper documentation
- Prepares budget expenses related to theater productions and operations
- Supervises technical aspects of theatrical productions, including lighting, sound, and stage management
- Ensures all audio equipment is functioning properly before and during performances
- Edits, layers, and programs audio cues using digital audio workstations (DAWs) and playback software
- Coordinates with lighting and stage management teams to ensure smooth technical integration
- Maintains theater equipment and coordinate necessary repairs and upgrades
- Handles all administrative aspects related to theater productions
- Coordinates with faculty, students, internal departments and external partners to facilitate theater use and productions
- Ensures compliance with institutional policies and safety regulations in all theater operations
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Theater, Communication, Business Management or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in theatrical productions, with hands-on involvement in both production and technical aspects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in technical theater operations, including lighting and sound systems
- MS Office Skills
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Strong written and spoken proficiency in both English and Arabic
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with possible/ occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends/holidays to support theater events and activities.
