The Health Services Entity / Marketing & Communication Office is looking for a Writer, Health Services reporting to the Head of Marketing & Communication, Health Services.Role Summary
The Writer, Health Services is mainly responsible for developing content that showcases the operations of the LAU Health Services Entity (such as LAU Medical Centers, the Mobile Clinic, LAU Pharmaceutical & Medical Research Center (PMRC), etc.) and other strengths and achievements and enhances positive reputation-building.
S/he will be actively involved in the editorial development of LAUHS print and digital communications from concept to completion and will strive to ensure that all communications conform to rigorous editorial standards. S/he will support the dissemination of stories, articles and press releases with particular attention to style, tone and audience, and will be responsible for writing and updating content for the website and social media channels.
Furthermore, the Writer must be able to contribute with fresh approaches, while keeping track of audience engagement and website performance.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops articles for websites, periodicals, publications and/or press releases
- Conducts the background activities to develop the stories: research, attending events and interviews
- Conducts fact-checking and research to ensure the validity and accuracy of the information
- Develops integrated approaches for storytelling – including written articles, social media and audio-visual content ideas, by adapting the articles to a press release format or to social media posts
- Develops ideas for articles that showcase LAUHS’ strengths and successes, identifies new initiatives, and researches upcoming events that require coverage
- Assists in the development of content for public relations strategies, speeches and articles, as needed
- Prepares and edits content for social media dissemination
- Writes and updates content on the website
- Edits and proofreads own work and others’ work, while adhering to the editorial and procedural standards
- Contributes to emergency/crisis communications by developing content as per requirements
- Assists other writers and oversees the work of freelance writers as needed
- Liaises with account handlers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless workflow
- Archives collected information and photos/videos from research and interviews in a manner that allows potential revisiting for expanded/future articles
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as required by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, marketing, journalism, English literature, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional writing experience; familiarity with the health sector is a plus
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office/Word/PowerPoint), web research skills, and Generative AI writing assistance skills
- Basic knowledge of digital software is an asset, as are digital photography skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with commitment to deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to conduct effective interviews and translate insights into compelling content, supported by strong interpretation and communication skills
- Ability to work in a group as well as independently, particularly in coordinating and completing projects for online and print publication
- Excellent interpersonal skills, creativity and critical thinking
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends/holidays to cover events in LAU Medical Center or any Health Services activities.

- Two short-form articles in English (one page long or approximately 400 words)
