What I liked most about the Peer Mentorship program is how comfortable it made me feel as a first-year student. Being matched with a student who has already been through the same experience made it much easier for me to ask questions, even the ones I thought were silly. The support and guidance I received from my peer mentor really helped me feel less stressed and less overwhelmed.

Joining the Peer Mentorship Program truly made a difference in my first semester. Coming from a French double-baccalaureate system, I was confused about how the American system worked, how GPA is calculated, what happens if I fail a test, and how financial aid could be affected. These questions constantly worried me, and I didn’t always know where to go or who to ask. Relying on friends sometimes meant waiting or not receiving clear answers. Having a mentor meant having a reliable and informed source of guidance from someone who understood the system and could explain things clearly instead of leaving me uncertain. You don’t lose anything by reaching out; no question is too small, and every concern is taken seriously. Instead of overthinking and stressing alone, I felt reassured knowing that I had someone I could trust for accurate advice and honest answers.

Starting my first semester felt overwhelming at first, but the Peer Mentorship Program made the transition much smoother. Instead of figuring everything out alone, I had someone who had already walked the same path. My mentor didn’t just answer questions but shared real shortcuts, guided me to the right resources, and helped me understand who to ask and where to go. That support reduced my stress, helped me adjust faster, and most importantly reminded me that I wasn’t alone in this journey.
