The School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University (LAU) is seeking applications at the Associate/Full Professor rank in the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics for the newly established MedGulf Faculty Chair in Actuarial Science. Candidates must hold a Doctorate degree in Actuarial Science, in Statistics, in Risk Management, or in another appropriate field related to Actuarial Science. Preference will be given to candidates who are Associates or Fellows of either the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses and be engaged in research in the areas of life and health insurance, pension funds and financial security.

The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics is one of the seven departments of the School of Arts and Sciences. It offers a BS degree in Computer Science that is accredited by ABET, an MS degree in Computer Science and a BS degree in Mathematics. Actuarial Science is currently offered as a minor and the successful candidate is expected to assist in developing an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in the field. S/he is also expected to assist in preparing students to qualify for the preliminary actuarial examinations administered by the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society of the United States.

LAU has two campuses, one in Beirut (Lebanon’s cosmopolitan capital and largest population hub) and the other in Byblos, about 35 kilometers north of Beirut.
