2024 - 2025 Tuition

Dear students,

To maintain the standards of education LAU strives to provide, it has become necessary to adjust our tuition for the next fiscal year. As of next fall, tuition fees will increase by 5 percent.

How our financial aid program will alleviate:

Rest assured that support will continue to be made available for all those who need it. LAU will continue to invest in the most significant financial aid program in the country, in terms of total aid value, and in terms of the number of students benefiting from financial aid.

Why it is necessary:

As we go through the fifth year of financial crisis, this increase has become an inevitablemeasure to remain viable as a top provider of American higher education in Lebanon. We are obligated to recover part of the mounting costs of sustaining a vast array of campus operations — everything from supplying key infrastructure, to maintaining facilities, paying our energy bills, contracting licenses, ensuring internet connectivity, procuring technology, and so on.

Why our strategy has proved effective:

Our strategy so far has been to control overhead costs, postpone capital project expenditures (for all projects with no significant abortive costs), but continue to invest in human capital. We’ve made every effort to attract and retain the best instructors and staff to help you thriveacademically and personally. As a result of sound governance, the value and the quality of the LAU education have improved, and we’ve worked very hard at ensuring the employability of our graduates remained in the leading positions in Lebanon, in the Middle East and beyond. The value of your degree has strengthened through continued prestigious accreditations and increasingly strong results in the rankings.

This strategy has enabled us to welcome a record number of students into our campuses, while keeping one of the lowest, if not the lowest, rates of faculty and staff attrition in the country.

Why depleting our endowment is not the solution:

LAU has been able to survive these years of crises by digging into its endowment. It’s our endowment that has allowed us to weather the storm. But this critical fund is not to be depleted. It is our safety net for the current emergency, for unforeseen emergencies and for generations to come.

LAU is proud that so far over 80 percent of our students have benefited from financial aid, and we are grateful to the generous organizations, foundations and individuals who have supported us in this endeavor. Financial aid in its various forms will always be extended to families who need it.

Dear students, we take these types of decisions after very careful consideration. We are committed to upholding the highest quality and standards, for you and for all the students who will come after you. We also recognize the financial challenges many of you face, and we are committed to providing support to alleviate that burden through various forms of financial aid. Thanks to your support and the unwavering commitment of our faculty and staff, LAU will always remain a cornerstone of the finest higher education that Lebanon has to offer.

Respectfully,

Michel E. Mawad, M.D.
President
