Academic Update - March 16-20, 2026
Dear Students,
We hope that you and your loved ones are safe during these difficult times.
Following my communication of March 6, I would like to share an update on the teaching and learning arrangements that will be in place from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20, 2026. Our priority remains to ensure continuity of learning while placing your safety and well-being first. Recognizing that students may be experiencing different circumstances depending on their location, and that conditions vary between our Beirut and Byblos campuses, the following academic arrangements will apply.
Lecture-Based Classes
Beirut Campus
- Lecture-based classes will continue online.
- Synchronous sessions will be recorded and shared so that you may access them at your convenience.
- In some cases, instructors who are able to reach campus may offer hybrid sessions. If so, you will have the option to attend either in person or remotely through our technology-enabled classrooms. Your instructor will inform you if this option is available.
Byblos Campus
- Lecture-based classes will be offered primarily in hybrid mode, allowing you to attend on campus or join remotely if you are unable to attend in person.
- All synchronous sessions will continue to be recorded and shared for later access.
- Your instructor will communicate the specific modality for each course.
Experiential Courses (Labs, Studios, Clinical Courses)
In line with the latest guidance from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, courses requiring experiential learning will be held on campus in both Beirut and Byblos whenever possible. Your school dean will share the specific arrangements for these courses.
If you are unable to attend in person, you will be given the opportunity to make up missed sessions at a later time.
Exams and Assessments
Exams and other graded assessments will resume on Wednesday, March 18 for both campuses in order to support your academic progress. Your school or department may share additional guidance where necessary.
- Make-up exams will be available for students who are unable to sit for scheduled assessments.
- Every effort will be made to stagger exams to avoid heavy workloads.
- If you experience difficulties with your exam schedule, you are advised to reach out to your department chair.
Academic Deadlines
Given the disruption to normal academic schedules and the delay in conducting exams and assessments, the deadline for Fall 2025 “Incomplete” grades has been extended to April 8, while the deadline for course withdrawals (WP/WF) has been postponed to April 15. This adjustment is intended to ensure that you have adequate time to make informed academic decisions without being disadvantaged by the current circumstances.
Campus Resources
Campus resources, including libraries, will remain available to support your studies; do check the schedule before arriving as the situation may result in a last-minute closure.
We understand that many of you are navigating challenging and uncertain situations, and we remain committed to supporting you as best we can.
We will continue to monitor developments closely and will inform you promptly should any adjustments become necessary.
Please take care of yourselves and stay safe.
Sincerely,
George E. Nasr
