Position Summary
The Department of Nutrition and Food Science in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice in Nutrition. The Department seeks a highly qualified and motivated full-time faculty member who is committed to internship coordination, program quality assurance, innovative teaching, academic advising, and institutional and community service. The successful candidate will contribute to the administration, continuous improvement, and advancement of the Combined Program in Nutrition and Dietetics. Prospective candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Nutrition or a closely related field from a recognized institution. The successful candidate should be a licensed dietitian (LD) by the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon and a member of the Lebanese Order of Dietitians (LOD).
Responsibilities
- Serve as Program Director for the Combined Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (BS in Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program (CP) and MS in Nutrition), ensuring full compliance with the standards and policies of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and applicable LAU policies.
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of ACEND accreditation, including preparation of self-study reports, annual reports, substantive change reports, assessment documentation, and accreditation site visits, while maintaining ongoing communication with ACEND.
- Oversee the administration, quality assurance, assessment, and continuous improvement of the Combined Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (BS in Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program and MS in Nutrition), ensuring achievement of program learning outcomes and accreditation requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and evaluate supervised experiential learning opportunities, including establishing and sustaining partnerships with practice sites, coordinating student placements, monitoring preceptor quality, and ensuring compliance with ACEND experiential learning standards.
- Collaborate with faculty, preceptors, and clinical partners to ensure the quality, effectiveness, and continuous enhancement of the Coordinated Program and Dietetic Internship components.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition, dietetics, and/or food science.
- Supervise graduate theses, projects, and other scholarly activities, as appropriate.
- Advise and mentor students enrolled in the Combined Program in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives and contribute to the advancement of the academic programs and external partnerships.
- Engage in service activities at the Department, School, University, and professional levels.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department in response to departmental needs and priorities.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Nutrition or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Dietitian (LD) by the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is a plus.
- Membership in the Lebanese Order of Dietitians (LOD).
- A minimum of three years of professional experience following dietetics credentialing.
- Professional experience in internship coordination, program quality assurance, or related areas is a plus.
- Evidence of successful full-time university-level teaching experience.

The Department offers a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Combined Program in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Dietetic Internship program, and a Minor in Nutrition, a Minor in Food Innovation and Management, and an MS in Nutrition.
