Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor (Non-Tenure Track)
The Department of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University (LAU) invites applicants for a clinical non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant/associate Professor. The primary emphasis of this position is to provide intraprofessional and interprofessional collaborative patient care, precept students in experiential education and residents in an ambulatory care setting at the outpatient clinic at LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital (LAUMC-RH) and on Byblos campus. The faculty is also expected to support the school in didactic teaching, research and service. The position is fully-funded by the LAU School of Pharmacy.
Start Date: Fall 2025
Responsibilities
- Deliver intra-professional and inter-professional collaborative practice and patient care
- Provide Medication Therapy Management (MTM), Chronic Care Management (CCM), and/or transitions of care for patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, COPD, at LAU affiliated clinics.
- Precept pharmacy students and residents.
- Serve as a course coordinator for selected experiential and didactic courses.
- Deliver didactic teaching in specialty fields particularly in diabetes and other chronic diseases
- Develop a research niche and publish scholarly work
- Provide service to the department, university and hospital
- Contribute to the school and university interprofessional education (IPE) program
- Contribute to the school simulation activities
- Attend to the school’s program accreditation requirements
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a recognized University
- PGY1 residency from an ASHP-accredited program
- PGY2 specialty residency from an ASHP-accredited program. Preference will be given to candidates with ambulatory care experience (focus in primary care/endocrinology/geriatrics)
- Board certification such as BCACP, BCGP, certified diabetes educator is a plus
- Clinical practice experience in U.S. hospitals/health-systems
- Didactic and/or experiential education experience in U.S. academic pharmacy institutions/hospitals
- Documented active service to the department/institution
- Strong desire to contribute to day-to-day patient care and the advancement of pharmacy practice
- Enthusiasm for precepting pharmacy students and residents and serve as a role model practitioner
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Collegiality and cooperative abilities
- High personal integrity and ethical standards
- License or eligibility to be licensed as a pharmacist in Lebanon
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Published/presented research and scholarly work
- Experience with active learning modalities
- Familiarity with pharmacy education and practice in Lebanon
- Familiarity with accreditation requirement
The School
The LAU School of Pharmacy is located in LAU’s state-of-the-art Chagoury Health Science Center in Byblos, Lebanon. It enrolls around 450 students in its pre-pharmacy and pharmacy programs. It has a five-year BS in pharmacy program, a six-year PharmD program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), an MS graduate program in pharmaceutical development and management, and a PGY1 residency program. The school has partnerships and affiliations with diverse practice sites in Lebanon and the United States, has 20 FTEs of faculty, several part-time faculty, and around 200 preceptors who support its wide-ranging experiential education program.
