The School of Architecture & Design at the Lebanese American University (LAU) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Architecture, beginning Fall 2026. The appointment will be made at the appropriate rank based on the candidate’s academic credentials, teaching experience, research profile, and professional accomplishments. The Tenure Track is reserved for faculty who are active in research and who already have a scholarly agenda.

About the Program and School
The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) program at LAU is a five-year professional degree accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) in the United States. The program emphasizes design excellence, critical thinking, and responsiveness to social, environmental, and technological challenges. Students engage in a rigorous curriculum that integrates studio work, theory, history, technology, and professional practice.
The School of Architecture & Design is a vibrant academic unit offering programs in architecture, interior design, graphic design, fashion design and studio arts. It fosters a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment, encouraging innovation, research, and engagement with contemporary global issues. The school is housed in state-of-the-art facilities on both the Beirut and Byblos campuses.

Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, including design studios and theory or technical courses aligned with the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Supervise student projects and contribute to curriculum development.
- Maintain an active research agenda leading to scholarly publications.
- Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and academic events.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Architecture Program and its NAAB accreditation process.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in architecture, architectural history/ theory, or related fields is required.
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience in architecture at the university level.
- A demonstrated research agenda in one or more of the following areas: urban planning, sustainable architecture, architectural theory, or other relevant fields.
- Professional experience and licensure are considered assets.
- A strong commitment to teaching excellence, research productivity, and academic service.

Terms of Appointment

- Contract Duration: Renewable annually in accordance with university policies
