The Planning and Renovation Office at the Facilities Management Department is currently looking for a construction Foreman at the Beirut Campus.
Position Summary:
The Foreman is mainly responsible for supervising and monitoring the renovation activities and for managing all work crews and individuals on site. She/he should monitor and drive projects to program, assist in quantity and quality controls and in updating space databases as required.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Be the first person to arrive on the work site each day
- Monitor the day-to-day site activities and the progress of renovation projects, oversee the contractors’ work and ensure that daily tasks are efficiently performed
- Coordinate with the contractor’s representatives to ensure that all tasks are performed as per the approved project requirements
- Monitor daily construction procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained and that schedules are being followed
- Make sure that all the tasks executed on site are approved prior to execution
- Maintain a visible presence to answer related questions and issues, upon clear instructions from the Senior Architect in charge, and help with difficult situations or technical problems
- Make certain that the contractor’s representatives handle all cleanup tasks before they leave and that all tools, equipment or material are put away
- Validate that all locks are in place and secured
- Make sure that all university procedures, rules and regulations are observed and abided by at all times by the Contractors
- Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor and ensure that management is always updated on project development
- Handle onsite incidents and emergencies in a proactive manner
- Perform other duties pertinent to the position as requested
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Trade or Technical School in architecture, civil engineering or project management or relevant experience on site of at least 10 years
- Strong leadership and communication skills are essential to drive the project and communicate at varying levels
- Working knowledge of most aspects of renovations
- Knowledge of general construction safety including personal protective devices, hazardous materials, and power tool safety
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
- Computer literacy is a plus
