Network & Telecom Technician – Byblos Campus

The IT Department has a vacancy for a Network & Telecom Technician for its Byblos campus. He/she is mainly be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the voice, data and video network infrastructures.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate and maintain the structured cabling (UTP, Fiber Optics, Coaxial,…) used for voice, video and data networks. Use test equipment to isolate, identify, and analyze cable problem and take appropriate maintenance action.
- Install, connect and maintain telephone sets and faxes, as well as PCs, TVs and Video Conferencing equipment. Monitor MPT telephone lines.
- Install, operate and maintain Network switches, routers and transmission modems. Assist in troubleshooting and isolation of network and loop problems.
- Operate CISCO call Manager and maintain LAU corporate mobile phones.
- Install, operate and maintain wireless LAN.
- Assist multimedia admin in their performance of duties when requested.
- Assist in documenting changes of the cable plant and inventory of the switches and phones.
- Minor repair of Network & Telecom equipment using technical meters, such as volt/ohm meters, oscilloscope, TDR’s, OTDR’s (optical meters), BER testers, laptop computers, frequency meters, error rates, and synchronization meters.
- Perform work orders and provisioning routines. Perform other duties pertinent to this job as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- A holder of a TS degree in a related field from a renowned technical school, or the equivalent in training and experience
- A minimum of 2 – 4 years of experience
- Thorough knowledge of latest technology trends in Telecommunications equipment and software.
- Network+, A+ or CCNA Certifications, or equivalent training in inter-networking technology and LAN/WAN equipment, such as Ethernet switches, routers, ATM, frame relay, IP, and routing protocols.
- Must have working knowledge of PC’s, including basic computer operational tasks
- Ability to understand flowcharts, equipment manuals, technical documentation, and/or computer printouts for the purpose of trouble-shooting and maintaining systems
- Skill in analyzing systems and specifications and ability to quickly adapt to new technology/equipment. Ability to achieve required certifications and to successfully complete any required training or coursework
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Acceptable verbal and written English skills
- Physically fit to climb towers, ladders, and/or poles to inspect antennas. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours of the day/night
- Must be able to respond to after hour call-outs, work overtime, shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
