Mr. Charbel Aoun

Assistant Vice President for Human Resources

Mr. Charbel Aoun was appointed Assistant Vice President for Human Resources in 2014. In this capacity, he is responsible for planning and overseeing the delivery of university-wide human resources services for faculty and staff members. Such services include fulfilling staffing needs; faculty and staff contracts administration; compensation and benefits administration; and staff recruitment, onboarding, learning, development, performance management, and time/attendance management.

He brings an international perspective after more than 20 years of experience in human resources management, organizational design, and HR management systems implementations in Dubai, Cyprus, Canada and Lebanon. Notably, he has served at Deloitte & Touche as an HR and organizational design consultant for a number of organizations in most of the Levant, GCC and MENA countries.

Mr. Aoun’s expertise encompasses the full spectrum of the human resources management cycle: restructuring functions, developing and implementing policies and procedures, performance appraisal systems, grading and salary scales, training and development, as well as the design and implementation of specialized data systems.

In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Aoun has taught a number of courses at LAU’s School of Business over the past seven years. He has also designed and delivered training courses in human resources, organizational design, and leadership for several institutions in the Middle East.

Mr. Aoun has contributed to a variety of business cases for Pearson Publishing’s best-selling textbooks on organizational behavior, and has published various articles in local and regional business and human resources magazines.

Mr. Aoun holds an M.B.A. from McGill University, and a B.A. from the Lebanese University.
