Frequently asked questions

Is LAU accredited?

LAU is fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. Accreditation provides LAU with verifiable academic quality, enables transferring of credits to other institutions, strengthens students’ access to scholarship opportunities, and improves their employability.

What educational system is LAU based on?

LAU uses the American system, and our language of instruction is English. The academic calendar is based on two semesters: fall (August–December) and spring (January–May). A module is also offered in the summer.

LAU also uses the American credit system where course work is measured in “credit hours.” Generally, a class that meets for three hours of lectures a week carries three credits. Essentially, one credit means one hour of lecture. Class attendance is obligatory and factors in as a part of your overall grade.

What are the admission requirements?

Your admission to LAU depends on your high school grades, SAT/ACT scores, demonstration of English proficiency, and the submission of several other documents listed above.

When should I apply?

The deadlines are listed here.

How do I submit an application?

You can apply either online or using the printed form. Applicants should prepare scanned copies of the required documents to upload with their online application.

Can I apply without submitting my documents?

Yes. However, it is better to submit your documents along with the application to speed up the process. All documents should be submitted before the deadline set by the university.

Do I have a better chance of being accepted if I apply early?

Yes. The earlier you apply, the better chance you will have, especially if you are eligible for an entrance, SAT, Merit scholarship, etc.

Where should I send my application documents?

Application documents should be dropped off at or mailed to the Admissions Office on the campus to which you are applying. Find the mailing address here.

What is the minimum required SAT/ACT score?

It varies from school to school and from year to year.

How many times can I take the SAT/ACT?

You can take the exams as many times as you wish. Your highest scores per subject will be considered for your application. If you need help studying, contact Continuing Education, which offers SAT prep courses.

My SAT/ACT scores are very low and my school grades are very high. Will this affect my chances of getting in?

The University Admission Council reviews every file carefully and takes many factors into consideration.

What is the annual tuition?

LAU has a term-based tuition structure for all undergraduate students. See all tuition and fees.

How can I apply for financial aid?

All students may apply for financial aid as soon as they apply for admission. Read more to find out about the different types of aid or scholarships for which you may qualify.

When can I benefit from financial aid?

You may begin to receive financial aid in your first semester. For more information, please see Financial Aid and Scholarships.

My application is complete, what happens next?

Completed applications will be reviewed by the University Admissions Council. Once a decision has been made, you will be notified and advised of the next steps.
