My Journey at LAU

Georges Aoun ’22

Through the Middle East Partnership Initiative – Tomorrow’s Leaders (MEPI-TL) scholarship, I learned to evolve and develop. We were trained on essential skills that helped us become who we are today — people who are coming up with creative solutions and presenting them with confidence.

I completed a summer internship at the Internal Medicine Department of the LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital, and might consider specializing in the field further down the line.

I see myself getting involved with civil society and helping others, rather than completing my medical education and specializing abroad.

My semester abroad in the US sparked the idea for my capstone project, especially since I had seen it being put to practice there, which I hope it will be one day in Lebanon, too.

My capstone project was inspired by the MEPI community that embodies values of no discrimination and teamwork. In fact, that is how I envision my country.

Capstone project: Aurora, a health center that doubles as a community NGO to educate on sexually transmitted diseases and provide treatment and vaccines.
