Professional training center "Formatech" will be delivering a free of charge "e-ecoeducation" training. The program combines advocacy and practical applications to promote and develop environmental preservation knowledge and skills.

Kindly note that training sessions will take place from Dec. 6-19 in LAU Byblos (by the upper gate).

Join LAU students in the Beirut Marathon

Join the 110 LAU students who will gather on Sunday, November 27 from 7:30-10:00 AM facing the Riviera Hotel (sea side) to give water to runners. LAU will be setting up a stage with a folk dance show and live music.

You can also attend the "Sport Symposium - How can sport change people’s lives?" organized by the Beirut Marathon Association on Saturday, November 26 at 11:00 AM at Beirut Martyrs’ Square.

LAU stand will be ran by 50 volunteer students from Friday to Sunday (from 4:00-8:00 PM).

Science Days 2011

LAU will participate in this year’s Science Days 2011 on October 20–22 at the Beirut Hippodrome. This year forty-0ne exhibitors are taking part in the event, which aims to showcase new scientific inventions in Lebanon. LAU will display a "Tourism Solar Powered Vehicle”, created by six LAU mechanical engineering students. Volunteers are needed to help around the LAU tent and provide visitors with information from 3:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. on the days of their choice. To volunteer, please register here or send your information to Mr. Joseph Kanaan at joseph.kanaan@lau.edu.lb by October 17.

 

Writing Center new opening hours, fall 2011

Share your writing (paper, essay, resume, cv, thesis, etc.) with a tutor at the LAU Writing Center, located in Nicol Hall, Room 206, Beirut campus. The opening hours for the fall semester are every day (Monday–Friday) 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and MWF 3:00–5:00 p.m. Simply walk in or make an appointment by emailing the center at: writing.center@lau.edu.lb.

The Institute for Peace and Justice Education has launched a new book: "Educators & Youth Building Peace: Stories from in and out of School," edited by Irma-Kaarina Ghosn. Its 16 chapters are filled with reflections, inspirational talks and descriptions of projects promoting peace, tolerance and citizenship. Contributors include Professor Betty Reardon, Professor Sir Bernard Crick, Mr. Elie Samia, and Dr. Mishka Moujabber-Mourani, among others. Download a copy here.

Book Exchange Day @ Your Library

The Book Exchange Day is the simplest and most efficient way to exchange, buy and sell used textbooks only among LAU students.

The way it works is simple. Just show up on Saturday February 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Beirut’s Riyad Nassar Library (12th floor) or the Byblos Library, and bring along your own bag of textbooks. You may display, exchange or sell all those textbooks that you will never use again.

This activity supports recycling and encourages students to adopt an environment friendly lifestyle by recycling and reducing waste. It will also save you money and time.
